Our Caterpillars Baby Room is a calming, nurturing space where babies feel loved, cared for, and safe. The room is designed to encourage sensory-rich exploration, with features such as a black-and-white area to stimulate eye development through high-contrast photographs and pictures. There is also a relaxing reading area where babies can explore books and enjoy listening to their favourite stories. We support babies in building their understanding of single words and help them begin to use around 50 single words as they grow. During this vital stage, we encourage physical milestones such as rolling, tummy time, crawling, and taking their first independent steps.
To foster independence, we guide babies as they grasp finger foods and bring them to their mouths. They also learn to share control of feeding tools, such as spoons, bottles, or cups, moving towards self-feeding with gentle support. This nurturing and stimulating environment helps babies explore their world and develop essential skills at their own pace.
